16th annual GEMS conference
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Lewis and Clark Community College - Godfrey, IL
Cost - $15/Per Participant
Scholarships are available but the registration form must be signed by the girl's teacher.
All registrations must be sent in by Sunday, March 13th
Girls in grades 6, 7, and 8 are invited to attend the 15th annual GEMS Conference Saturday, March 20, at Lewis and Clark Community College. Girls will have the opportunity to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as they particitpate in hands-on workshops taught by women who have experienced successful careers.
All girls will be enrolled in "Welcome to the Real World" as 1
of their 3 workshops. This program was developed by the University of
Illinois Extension Program and lets girls get a glimpse of the real world of
career choices, decision-making and money management. In addition girls will be assigned to 2 workshops about careers that require knowledge in mathematcis, science and technology.

GEMS ACTIVITIES FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
The 2011 GEMS Conference has special sessions for parents and teachers. These programs are designed to help meet the challenges of today's youth and offer adults insightful and appealing approaches to support and prepare girls while they are in school.
